Team Hoi
In 1987, Metin Seven (designer and graphic artist), Reinier van Vliet
(designer and programmer) and Ramon Braumuller (composer) decided to start creating commercial computer games together.
During the nine years that followed they built up a strong creative force, completing six commercial titles which were released
worldwide through the years. The Amiga games "Hoi" and "Clockwiser" are among the best known titles, both warmly
received by the press after their release in the early nineties. Their last and most prestigious project was called Moon Child, a silky-smooth
scrolling, high resolution PC CD-ROM platform game, released for Windows 95 in 1997.
Moon Child
In 2004 our hero makes an exclusive reappearance on your Pocket PC!
One night, a small comet crashes into the peaceful scenery of the planet
Utopia. Soon, the meteor proves to be the source of a rapidly spreading
techno-virus, turning Utopia into a cold metal world. Centuries ago,
Utopia's moon has sent a magical green elf to Utopia, to protect the planet
from some unknown danger. But now the danger is known and Moon Child's time has come. It's up to the player to make sure Moon Child succeeds in his quest!
Moon Child's key feature is its sheer playability. Playing Moon Child
brings back memories of what pure old school platform gameplay used to be about. Once you get into playing the game, you're sure to stay hooked until the very end!
The game is divided in four large-scale "environments", each split into four big
"scenes" (levels), with the exception of environment four, which is one
impressive grand finale.
The first environment is not yet infected with the techno-virus and is set
in an atmospheric, magical nature-environment. The second environment
emphasizes the looming of the techno-virus (in the shape of a construction site). In the third environment, Moon Child flies through a techno-fortress with a jetpack and the final environment will be a completely abstract, psychedelic, adrenalin-pumping grand finale.
The levels are stuffed with original situations, pitfalls and enemies. The
enemies of the first environment include birds, bats, bees, dangerous
plants, witches, walking bombs, snakes and so on. The second environment's enemies include cannons, cement mixers, hammers, "Helmut Helmet" (an intelligent hard hat character), pneumatic hammers etcetera. The enemies of environment three include different robots, and a lot of flying "segment snakes". Finally, the enemies of the grand finale are completely abstract, amoeba-like creatures.
